The COA-CONE Burns organization hosted a unique and touching outreach at Genius Avenue College Owerri, where a burns survivor leading the team shared a very touching personal story of resilience and recovery, while emphasizing on the importance of prevention, and early intervention with 201 students and 10 teachers. Her story highlighted the critical importance of prevention and early intervention.
She delivered practical lessons on identifying and mitigating risk in everyday environment such as proper storage of liquids to avoiding risky behaviours around open flames and gas cylinders. Participants were taught essential first-aid techniques to give before medical help arrives. Survivor’s personal connection to the topic made the lessons unforgettable and deeply resonated with her audience.
